Build one for your own workflow
This roof is the reference project of Become an Agentic Structural Engineer. In four weeks you take one repetitive workflow from your own projects and leave with a working agent for it, and a measured time saving.

What you are watching
One instruction to an AI agent with the roof-design skill: one set of instructions, six steps, the tools they call and when to stop. The engineer hands over two files, the IFC model and the design requirements. The agent does everything in between and stops where a decision is the engineer's.
-
Reading the IFC. The agent decides which members are the roof from the file itself
(the six girders under the
IfcRoof) and what carries them (four walls and the chimney). It writes that decision down, with its evidence, before anything is analysed. - Analysis. A frame model solved by the Awatif solver API, ULS and SLS. The walls and the chimney become pinned supports, a deviation the report lists for approval.
- Design. Bending, shear and deflection of every span with eurocodepy, in a simplified teaching reading of EN 1995-1-1:2004 with no National Annex, as the requirements set.
- Optimization. All ten permitted sections are analysed and checked. The lightest one that passes everywhere is selected.
- Deliverables. A calculation report in HTML and a DXF framing drawing, both shown above exactly as the run wrote them. Open the report or download the DXF from the last step.
A replay, not a live run. The files and every number come from one run of the skill on 28 August 2026. The deflected shape and the moment diagram belong to the original 100 × 200 mm section, re-solved with the same toolchain. The commands are the skill's own. The agent's messages are written for this page. The output is an unchecked calculation until an engineer has verified it.
