Why I Quit My 9-to-5 to Build Awatif
In this photo, I'm taking a goodbye selfie after quitting my 9-to-5 job.
Was it easy? No.
Did I have to? No.
So why leave a stable income and dive into the uncertainty of building a company?
For me, working 9-to-5 always felt like a prison. The only real escape, for me, was entrepreneurship. But entrepreneurship is hard, and the hustle isn't for everyone—especially someone like me who values work-life balance. Still, I chose this path. Why?
I grew up loving math and physics, which naturally led me to structural engineering. But I ended up hating the job, not because of the profession itself, but because the process was deeply inefficient. That frustration pushed me toward programming, hoping I could use it to fix what bothered me most.
As someone who genuinely loves the art of structural engineering, I couldn't just stand by while tons of materials are wasted and buildings collapse during earthquakes. I knew I had to do something about it. I'm confident that my team and I can make a real impact—and that's why I quit, taking the biggest risk of my life.
I took a loan to survive the next six months. It's not enough, so I'll need your support to keep going. In return, I'm offering a lifetime deal for our flagship online structural analysis and design product. The first 100 users won't only support me financially—they'll help shape the product to fit their needs.
In a couple of weeks, we'll launch our app. It's the result of five years of experimenting with innovative ways of designing, and I'm incredibly excited to share it with you. Follow me for more updates—I'll be documenting the entire journey, including the successes and the failures.
